KatadataOTO – Suzuki is starting to make moves to welcome 2025 with new models. This is because the model code A3L415F with an NJKB (Vehicle Sale Value) starting from IDR 166 million has appeared on the Jakarta Samsat PKB website.

As of this writing, there has been no explanation from the manufacturer as to what model this vehicle code is for. However, it is believed that the model is the Suzuki Fronx, which is already on sale in India.

Rumors of this model being brought to Indonesia have actually been circulating since November of last year. At that time, the Suzuki Fronx was touted to be a car that would be launched at the GJAW 2024 event.

In terms of design, this car has a length of 3,995 mm, a width of 1,765 mm, a height of 1,550 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. These dimensions are smaller than the Grand Vitara, which has dimensions of 4,345 mm x 1,795 mm x 1,645 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,600 mm.

The Suzuki Fronx relies on a 1.5L Dualjet engine with SHVS Mild Hybrid using a 12-volt battery. There are two drivetrain options: FWD (Front Wheel Drive) and AWD (All Wheel Drive).

But looking at the Jakarta Samsat PKB, it is likely that only the FWD version will be brought in. Here is the list of codes on the site:

  • A3L415F GL (4X2) MT IDR 166 million
  • A3L415F GL (4X2) AT IDR 174 million
  • A3L415F HX (4X2) MT IDR 178 million
  • A3L415F HX (4X2) AT IDR 186 million
  • A3L415F HS (4X2) AT IDR 194 million

It should be noted that the Vehicle Sale Value or NJKB is the base price used to calculate the amount of tax that customers must pay. Therefore, the final price tag is certain to be higher.

The presence of the Fronx certainly has the potential to refresh Suzuki's lineup in Indonesia. Moreover, 2025 is believed to be a challenging year for the country's automotive industry.

The number of taxes that people have to pay is expected to make them think twice before purchasing a vehicle. Thus, it is not impossible that car sales will be under further pressure.
