Despite being recognized as quite dominant, BYD has not yet announced the order data for the Atto 1, which was recently launched at GIIAS 2025.
KatadataOTO – As we know, the BYD Atto 1 recently caused a stir in the Indonesian automotive market. The latest EV hatchback, which comes with a sporty and compact look plus an affordable price starting from Rp 195 million at GIIAS 2025, is immediately predicted to become the best-selling car throughout the exhibition.
Unfortunately, to this day, BYD is still keeping the order data for the Atto 1. Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR and Government Relations for BYD Indonesia, only revealed the total number of orders for BYD and Denza during the exhibition, which Gaikindo calls the third largest in the world after Shanghai and Beijing.
"The achievement of orders for BYD and Denza during the GIIAS 2025 event was 4,195 units, and within that, there is a component of Atto 1," explained Luther in Jogjakarta (13/8/2025)
He added that, in his experience attending automotive exhibitions, it is very common for a newly launched model to have quite dominant sales.
"But I can't mention the details now because it's still in the calculation stage," added Luther.
BYD Indonesia acknowledges that in determining the selling price, they have certainly performed a full calculation. Luther mentioned that all price-forming components or vertical integration are examined as much as possible.
"This means we try our best to fulfill the existing production components to achieve that price level. So, in essence, that is the price created when we are able to create all the existing components through vertical integration," said Luther.
He also added that those who benefit are, of course, car consumers in the country. Because there will be more alternative choices and prices will also become more affordable, leading many consumers to switch to using green transportation modes.
It should be noted that the BYD Atto 1 comes with battery options of 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh. Each offers a range of 300 km and 380 km, respectively, through the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) testing method.
The BYD Atto 1 is claimed to be able to produce a power of 55 kW or 73 hp while its peak torque reaches 135 Nm. Although it is quite small, the car is already equipped with two electric motors, enabling it to accelerate from a standstill to 50 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The vehicle can be pushed to a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
