KatadataOTO – At the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, Suzuki showcased the Heartect platform which has been used in several of their flagship models. among them are the Suzuki Ertiga, XL7, and S-Presso.

The Heartect platform has also been used on the Suzuki Fronx, which is rumored to be coming to Indonesia soon. Thus, the choice of SUVs in the country will become more diverse than it is today.

Interestingly, the frame still has a hump in the middle section. Even though Suzuki's lineup has recently been using a front-wheel drive system, which should allow for a flat floor and more legroom for passengers.

Suzuki acknowledged this uniqueness is to accommodate future vehicle development needs. This is because the platform will not only be used for front-wheel drive cars but also for rear-wheel drive and 4x4s.

“This platform is not only for use in vehicles but also for 4x4s and RWD. So in the future, all cars can use it optimally without needing additional development,” said Hoshino Masaharu, Vice President of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor some time ago.

Thanks to this, the development process for new Suzuki models can be faster, and the company can compete with other global manufacturers.

However, he acknowledged that the Suzuki Jimny and commercial vehicles will use a different frame.

“So the Heartect platform is prepared for use in passenger vehicles, both ICE and hybrid,” he then emphasized.

Many Advantages

Hoshino Masaharu revealed that the Heartect platform has various advantages that can be directly felt by customers. One of them is making fuel consumption more efficient.

This is because Suzuki cars are on average 200 kg lighter than most models from other manufacturers. He revealed that the weight of most vehicles they make is only around 892 kg.

Despite its light weight, the manufacturer also prioritizes safety. The car has been designed in such a way as to not have angles that could increase risks during an accident.
