KatadataOTO – The Indonesian government is reportedly finalizing regulations regarding the provision of electric motorcycle subsidies. The aid is rumored to be launched in August 2025.
The discourse then drew many responses from various parties. As voiced by the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (Aismoli).
They hope the electric motorcycle subsidy will actually be provided starting next month. So it can boost sales.
In addition, Aismoli suggests that the government make the electric motorcycle subsidy sustainable, not just on a yearly basis.
Considering the aid will only be implemented in the eighth month. Thus, the time given is too short or tight.
“Indeed, until December, there are practically only four months left. Whereas in December, we can no longer sell because the year is about to close,” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, to KatadataOTO recently.
Therefore, Budi hopes that President Prabowo Subianto along with his ministers will provide the electric motorcycle subsidy for a longer period, or multi-year.
So that all incentives provided by the government can be fully absorbed and felt by all levels of society.
“If it can be continued, sales in 2025 can be paid for in 2026. So there is no halt in the sales process due to the turn of the year,” said Budi.
Furthermore, Aismoli suggests the government emulate India in providing electric motorcycle subsidies. Because it is not just for a one-year period.
“India's is for up to 10 years; perhaps we can have one prepared for five years with a certain purchase quota and funds,” Budi affirmed.
Budi also stated that making the incentive multi-year would bring many positive impacts. Especially for the people in the country.
That way, people will be willing to switch from conventional motorcycles to electric two-wheelers.
“The public can find it easier to buy electric motorcycles at a cheaper price,” affirmed the Chairman of Aismoli.
Nevertheless, Budi hopes President Prabowo Subianto and his ministers are truly serious about disbursing the electric motorcycle subsidy in August 2025.
Because if it is postponed, it will impact the sales of manufacturers. Considering consumers will wait for the aid to be disbursed.
“Because if it's announced in the media and more people know there's a purchase subsidy (they will wait), our sales will somewhat halt,” Budi concluded.
