KatadataOTO – Entering March 2025, certainty regarding electric motorcycle subsidies has not yet been provided by the government. This has made manufacturers cry out.
They admit to eagerly awaiting assistance from President Prabowo Subianto and his ministers.
“Of course, we hope for clarity on the scheme or form of this government policy so it can be announced sooner,” said Putu Yudha, Chief Operating Officer of Alva at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta some time ago.
Putu explained that the uncertainty of the electric motorcycle subsidy has a significant impact. Especially on their sales.
It makes people postpone purchasing EVs (Electric Vehicles). Therefore, Putu really hopes President Prabowo will soon announce the form of this assistance.
“The impact now is that people are waiting. This means the interest (in electric motorcycles) is still there, but they are still waiting a bit,” he continued.
On the other hand, a similar sentiment was also felt by United E-Motor. They revealed that consumers have become reluctant to spend their money.
Because they are still waiting for when the electric motorcycle subsidy will be disbursed by the government for the people in the country.
“It definitely has a big impact, because on average, people are now waiting (for the electric motorcycle subsidy),” said Andry Dwinanda, General Manager of United E-Motor on a different occasion.
Andry also hopes the government will disburse the aforementioned assistance soon. And that it will be valid for the long term, not just for a moment.
Because if it is only valid for one year, it is considered unsuitable. And it burdens them as manufacturers of electric two-wheeled vehicles.
For your information, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) had spoken out about the future of this government assistance.
“The electric motorcycle subsidy will be ready soon, it's being finished up,” said Agus Gumiwang, the Minister of Industry, when opening the IIMS 2025 exhibition.
Agus admitted that the government is still calculating the amount of assistance to be given to the people in the country.
Therefore, they cannot yet confirm whether the form of the electric motorcycle subsidy in 2025 will be the same as last year or not.
“It's still being processed and calculated, but it will definitely happen. So the electric motorcycle subsidy will be out soon,” Agus affirmed.
As a reminder, in 2024 the electric motorcycle subsidy was in the form of a price cut of Rp 7 million. This amount applied to every EV purchase.
Meanwhile, for this year, it will reportedly be given in the form of PPN DTP, or what is commonly called Government-Borne Value Added Tax.
