KatadataOTO – The issue of electric motorcycle subsidies seems to have found a resolution. Kemenperin (Ministry of Industry) is reportedly going to disburse this assistance.
However, the distribution scheme will change this year. It is said to be aligned with the incentive for electric cars or EV (Electric Vehicle).
Thus, it will be provided in the form of PPN DTP, or commonly known as Value Added Tax Borne by the Government.
Even so, Kemenperin has not yet been able to confirm when the subsidy for electric motorcycles will begin to be distributed to the public.
On the other hand, Aismoli (Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association) hopes that the assistance to be provided by President Prabowo Subianto and the ministers will be the same as in 2024.
“If it's PPN DTP, the amount is around Rp 2.5 million, whereas in 2024 the discount was Rp 7 million. We are still hoping for the same as last year,” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, when contacted by KatadataOTO.
According to Budi, there are several considerations why Aismoli hopes the previous year's scheme is maintained. For example, it has been running well for a year.
Public reception was also optimal. Thus, the government's electric motorcycle subsidy could be fully absorbed.
“Last year (for the electric motorcycle subsidy), there were no longer any obstacles related to a distribution system that was not yet good or so on,” Budi continued.
Based on the factors above, he very much hopes President Prabowo will continue the scheme as it was in 2024.
“Yes, our hope remains the same as last year (for the electric motorcycle subsidy). If the government can provide it like in 2024, we would be very grateful,” he emphasized.
As a reminder, the government provided assistance in the form of a Rp 7 million discount for every purchase of a Honda EM1 e:, Alva Cervo, and others.
The provisions regarding the incentive for electric two-wheeled vehicles are stipulated in Permenperin or Minister of Industry Regulation Number 21 of 2023.
Meanwhile, citing the official SISAPIRa website, 60,725 subsidized electric motorcycles have been received by the public from January to December 2024.
On the other hand, Budi revealed that they will visit the Kemenperin office. This is to push for and request certainty regarding the government's assistance, when it will be disbursed, and in what form.
He stated that this step will be taken next week together with the Aismoli board members.
It is hoped that the electric motorcycle subsidy will be disbursed soon, so that it can be utilized by the people in the country.
