KatadataOTO – President Prabowo Subianto is working to advance the national automotive industry, such as by producing its own vehicles domestically.
Recently, Indonesia's number one person admitted that he is preparing the production of a national motorcycle, a domestic creation.
“We will have our own Indonesian-made cars, our own Indonesian-made motorcycles, I have prepared it,” said Prabowo in his speech during a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube, Monday (17/11).
The presence of a national motorcycle is certainly awaited by many parties, as the product has the potential to be sold at an affordable price.
This opens up opportunities for the wider community to own two-wheeled vehicles, thus having a positive impact on the Indonesian automotive industry.
In addition, it will absorb more domestically made components and create job opportunities in the country.
Automatically, the unemployment rate can be slightly reduced. Furthermore, the national motorcycle can become a mainstay for the public.
Unfortunately, President Prabowo Subianto did not elaborate in more detail about the model or the launch time of the national motorcycle.
He was also reluctant to reveal the production scheme, whether it will be completely independent or a collaboration with other manufacturers.
On a similar occasion, President Prabowo Subianto also spoke about the possibility of replacing conventional pedicabs with electric motorcycles.
“I have prepared it so that later all pedicabs throughout Indonesia must be pedicabs using electric motors,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo stated that there should no longer be any pedicab drivers over the age of 70. He asked his aides to draft the program.
That way, the plan can be realized in the near future, making the use of electric motorcycles more massive.
The President emphasized that all these steps are part of the development vision towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.
On the other hand, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, the Minister of Industry (Menperin), recently provided the latest news regarding the production of a national car.
"We project that the national car will start production in 2027," said Agus on a separate occasion.
Agus said that detailed discussions regarding the national car will involve PT Pindad.
Later in the meeting, they will discuss the type of vehicle to be produced and the technology to be used in the national car.
Also, the technology applied in the production process, pricing strategy, marketing strategy, and after-sales service.
Then, the Ministry of Industry and Pindad are open to the possibility of collaboration with other parties.
