KatadataOTO – The government plans to launch electric motorcycle subsidies in the near future or in August 2025. This has certainly been anticipated by many parties.
Not only by electric two-wheeler manufacturers, but also by consumers in the country.
Moreover, the issue of providing these incentives has been circulating since the beginning of the year. However, it has not happened to this day, Friday (07/04).
Therefore, the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (Aismoli) hopes the government will no longer give false hope regarding the certainty of electric motorcycle subsidies.
“For me, I hope this isn't just giving false hope (PHP). Because from what I've seen, this has been going on since the beginning of 2025,” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, to KatadataOTO on Thursday (07/03).
According to Budi, the government's statements about wanting to disburse electric motorcycle subsidies, which have not materialized until now, have actually had many impacts.
For instance, people are waiting for the electric motorcycle subsidies to be disbursed. So they can buy electric two-wheelers more cheaply.
“Because if it's announced in the media, more people will know about the purchase assistance (and they will wait), our sales will come to a bit of a halt,” continued Budi.
Aismoli also hopes the government is truly serious about providing electric motorcycle subsidies to the public next month.
Nevertheless, Budi is confident that the statements from President Prabowo Subianto's ministers this time will truly be realized.
“Now I am more optimistic, because I have received information from several sources that improvements or revisions to the regulations are being made so the process can be launched or implemented,” Budi affirmed.
For your information, some time ago Faisol Riza, the Deputy Minister of Industry, once again provided a breath of fresh air regarding electric motorcycle subsidies.
According to this aide of President Prabowo, the assistance is currently being formulated by them.
In fact, Sri Mulyani, the Minister of Finance (Menkeu), has already approved the electric motorcycle subsidy budget for this year amounting to Rp 250 billion.
“The last meeting was actually directly approved by the Minister of Finance. At that time, we were looking for the figure (subsidy amount), and whether it was available or not,” said Faisol, as quoted by Antara.
Faisol then revealed that the launch of the electric motorcycle subsidies could be realized next month or in August 2025.
“We asked for it to be expedited, the last meeting was still focused on this holiday season. The Coordinating Minister (Airlangga Hartarto) will schedule (the next meeting) after this holiday season, likely in August,” Faisol concluded his statement.
