KatadataOTO – Besides implementing the odd-even policy in Jakarta, the DKI government is also carrying out several other strategies to overcome traffic congestion. One of them is building parking facilities for people from buffer zones who use private vehicles to a bus stop or station and then continue their journey using public transportation.

With these facilities, it is hoped that public mobility can be maintained without having to use private vehicles.

"We dedicate transportation in Jakarta to all surrounding areas. In the future, we will establish park and ride facilities in Jakarta's buffer zones," said Suharini Eliawati, Assistant for Economy and Finance to the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province, as reported by Antara (15/07).

She is optimistic that with adequate parking facilities and public transportation, people can be more at ease leaving their vehicles.

"Even if they still use private transportation, they don't need to go all the way into the city. It's enough to park near their homes because parking facilities are available," she added.

It should be noted that DKI Jakarta currently has seven park and ride locations. The locations are quite spread out, namely in the areas of Lebak Bulus, Ragunan, Pinang Ranti Terminal, Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Pulogebang Terminal, PGC Cililitan, and Kalideres.

Next, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will build parking facilities in the Cawang area.

Developing Technology

Not only that, TransJakarta will also develop its services for the public. The goal is to avoid passenger buildup at one point while other locations are empty.

To avoid this, they plan to utilize artificial intelligence or AI technology for automatic fleet scheduling according to on-the-ground needs.

“With the implementation of AI, we no longer rely solely on intuition, but make decisions based on predictions and data," said Raditya Maulana Rusdi, Director of Information Technology Systems and Services at Transjakarta.

He is also optimistic that the sight of empty buses arriving at stops will become rare. This is because fleet distribution will become more efficient and responsive to public needs.

Raditya believes that efficiency not only impacts service improvement but also leads to more responsible management of public funds.

“AI technology opens a new chapter in the management of sustainable public transportation," he said.
