KatadataOTO – The Jakarta International Marathon, which will be held on Sunday (29/06), will be attended by 30,000 people from 52 countries. The large number of participants has prompted the organizers to make various preparations to ensure comfort and avoid undesirable incidents.

One of the main concerns is the parking location for participants, which is believed to require a lot of space. Therefore, they have provided several spots at a number of strategic points.

At least four parking zones have been provided, namely Zone A at Kedai Aroem & Kopi Nako located on Abdul Muis street, Zone B at IRTI Monas, Zone C at Gambir station, and Zone D in the Istiqlal Mosque area.

In addition, the organizers have also provided parking pockets in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, such as at Lapangan ABC, Aquatic Stadium, East Elevated Parking (North & South), and Istora Senayan.

There are also East and Southeast Plaza, Al-Bina Mosque, the Soft Ball Field, Ex Telkom, Tennis Indoor, and the Yellow Gate (enter via GBK Gate 5).

These numerous facilities are expected to accommodate the participants' vehicles.

Car Free Day Canceled

The large number of participants in the Jakarta Marathon also impacts the community's routine activity, Car Free Day. This is because the event uses a similar route, so the government has decided to cancel it.

The cancellation of Car Free Day was announced by the Department of Transportation on its official Instagram account. They explained that the decision is in accordance with DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation Number 12 of 2016.

In article 5, paragraph 1, it is stated that the implementation of Car Free Day can be canceled if at the same time a special event (national/international) is held, where the event requires special traffic arrangements and security.

In addition, the public is also expected to prepare alternative routes if they wish to travel. This is because several road sections will be closed for the runners to pass through.
