KatadataOTO – The police will implement traffic diversions on three roads around the Merdeka Palace from August 13 to 14, 2025. This policy is being implemented to support the rehearsal activities for the Indonesian independence ceremony.
The traffic diversions will be implemented situationally from 07:00 AM to 06:00 PM WIB. Therefore, the public is advised to adjust their travel plans to avoid traffic congestion.
A number of officers will be on duty at several locations to manage the flow of traffic. It is hoped that vehicles can be diverted to reduce congestion.
Prasetyo Hadi, the Minister of State Secretary, even apologized if the event causes traffic jams. Especially since the activities are carried out from the morning when traffic flow is heavy.
"We also apologize to the people of Jakarta who have activities around the Merdeka Palace. If their comfort is slightly disturbed in the next few days, it is because we are starting activities at the Merdeka Palace," said Prasetyo, as reported by Antara (13/08).
He acknowledged that the rehearsal activities, which will last until August 14, 2025, have the potential to cause traffic congestion around the Merdeka Palace area. However, this is being done to ensure that the entire series of events for the Indonesian Independence Day anniversary celebration can run smoothly.
"The public will surely not feel disturbed because, after all, the traffic engineering is in the spirit of making all anniversary celebration activities run smoothly," he said.
To avoid traffic congestion, the public is advised to find alternative routes that remain open as usual. Alternatively, they can use public transportation such as TransJakarta, MRT, LRT, and KRL, which will continue to operate at full capacity.
Thus, it is hoped that public mobility can continue as normal without significant disruption. Moreover, the fares offered have been adjusted so as not to burden the public when using these facilities.
