KatadataOTO – Indonesia's commercial vehicle industry is showing its fangs again. This time, it's by Karoseri Laksana from Central Java.

Recently, they sent a bus to Sri Lanka on Wednesday (02/07). This marks Laksana's initial step in shipping its products to the country of Lankadeepa.

“This is indeed a very big milestone for us, because we can penetrate another market,” said Canta Bayu Laksana, Marketing Director of PT Laksana Bus Manufaktur, on the official website of the Central Java government.

According to Canta, Sri Lanka is one of their target destinations for marketing buses from Karoseri Laksana.

This is because they have previously sent products to several countries. Such as Fiji, Bangladesh, Timor Leste, and Laos.

“So after four countries, Sri Lanka is the fifth country we are exporting to,” Canta added.

Furthermore, Canta claims that Laksana has already exported 200 bus units to those four countries.

Meanwhile, for Sri Lanka, the bus used is the Legacy SR3 Neo Suites Combi series. Using a chassis from Mercedes-Benz.

On this occasion, Laksana has just shipped one bus to Sri Lanka. The vehicle will serve as a prototype to be used as a tour bus or an intercity bus.

“The hope is that this is an opener, so we can export more buses to Sri Lanka and other neighboring countries,” Canta affirmed.

On the other hand, Ahmad Lutfi, the Governor of Central Java, expressed his pride in the steps taken by Laksana.

It serves as a marker that products from Semarang, Central Java, have a large market share abroad.

“We appreciate it; this inaugural export is a sign that the nation's products can compete internationally. This is something we must value,” said Luthfi.

Luthfi revealed that the Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) is developing a regional agglomeration concept.

Covering Semarang, Soloraya, Pekalongan Raya, Pati Raya, Banyumas Raya, up to Kedu Raya.

Therefore, Luthfi hopes Laksana can grow the economy in the agglomeration area they are currently developing.

Especially since Laksana has already successfully shipped hundreds of bus units to various neighboring countries.

By doing so, it can play a significant role in the economic growth of Semarang or even Central Java.
