KatadataOTO – The accident that killed a UGM student (Universitas Gadjah Mada) on Jalan Palagan Tentara Pelajar, Sleman on Saturday (24/05) continues to be in the spotlight.
Most recently, the police have named Christiano Pengaraptena Pengidahen Tarigan, the driver of the white BMW, as a suspect.
“This case has been upgraded from an inquiry to a full investigation, with one suspect named, the driver with the initials CPP,” said Commissioner Ihsan, Head of Public Relations for the DIY Regional Police, to Antara on Wednesday (28/05).
Ihsan explained that the suspect was named after the Sleman Police conducted a case review some time ago.
They also re-investigated the crime scene (TKP) with the Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) team from the DIY Regional Police Traffic Directorate.
“From the beginning, the DIY Regional Police Chief has been very serious, and we are committed to immediately clarifying the actual facts of what happened in connection with this case,” said Ihsan.
According to Ihsan, the BMW driver is suspected of violating Article 310 paragraph (4) of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, which regulates traffic accidents resulting in death.
Regarding the suspect's whereabouts, Ihsan revealed that CPP has not yet been detained. This is because they are currently in the process of summoning him.
“After we summon him, we will question him as a suspect and immediately detain him,” Ihsan affirmed.
Furthermore, Ihsan revealed that based on the results of a urine test and a health check at Sleman Regional Hospital, the suspect CPP tested negative for both alcohol and drugs.
“So this is to dispel some of the opinions (circulating) on social media,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the speed of the BMW car that hit Argo Ericho Afandhi at the time of the incident is still under further investigation.
This is so that definitive data can be obtained through scientific investigation methods regarding the accident that killed the UGM student.
“The approach is scientific, determining the braking technique including speed, this is truly objective,” he said.
For your information, Argo Ericho Afandhi, a UGM student from the Faculty of Law, was killed after being hit by a BMW car belonging to Christiano Pengaraptena Pengidahen Tarigan.

This accident case between UGM students went viral online because its handling was allegedly not transparent.
