The provincial government plans to waive fares for Transjakarta and other public transportation during the DKI Jakarta Anniversary.
KatadataOTO – To celebrate Jakarta's 498th anniversary, the DKI Jakarta provincial government will be making public transportation services free of charge.
This includes facilities such as Transjakarta, MRT and LRT which are often used by the public for easier urban mobility.
“So for every Jakarta anniversary, besides making transportation free, we also have a policy of waiving tax penalties,” said Pramono Anung, Governor of DKI Jakarta, as quoted by Antara on Friday (13/05).
It should be noted that under normal conditions, the Transjakarta fare is Rp 3,500. This service covers various areas, especially in Jakarta.
Several bus stops are also integrated or connected with other transportation modes such as KRL, LRT, and MRT. This makes it easier for the public to travel in the city center.
Meanwhile, LRT fares vary depending on distance and time. During peak hours on Monday-Friday, the maximum LRT fare is Rp 20,000, valid from 06:00 WIB to 08:59 WIB and continuing from 16:00 WIB to 19:59 WIB.
Outside of peak hours, the maximum fare on weekdays is Rp 10,000, with a breakdown of Rp 5,000 for the first kilometer and an additional Rp 700 for each subsequent kilometer.
Then on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and national holidays, the maximum fare is set at Rp 10,000 with the same scheme as on weekdays outside of peak hours.
Another service, the MRT, also has fares that vary depending on the distance. However, the price range is from Rp 4,000 to around Rp 12,000.
The LRT is available on two routes: Jakarta-Cibubur and Jakarta-Bekasi. Several stations are connected to Transjakarta services, such as Pancoran Barat and Ciliwung.
The Dukuh Atas final station provides options for Transjakarta, the Tanah Abang KRL route, and the MRT.
Unlike the LRT, the MRT serves routes only within the Jakarta area, passing through several areas from Sudirman to Lebak Bulus.
The fare exemption for this series of public transportation is said to be effective on June 22, 2025, which falls on a Sunday. Therefore, it is certain that the public will crowd these free facilities.
Please remember, public transport users are still required to carry an electronic money card. Because it is needed to tap in and out of station and bus stop areas.
