KatadataOTO – The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is providing a special fare for public transportation such as MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta on August 17 to 18. This is to celebrate Indonesia's 80th independence day.
During these days, the public can travel around Jakarta for a fare of Rp 80. This policy was made as a form of appreciation to the public and to encourage the use of public transportation.
“We want the residents of Jakarta and its surrounding areas to be able to enjoy the moment of independence more freely, while also reducing the use of private vehicles," said Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency.
He also revealed that the Rp 80 fare is a tangible invitation for the public to participate in the independence celebration in an environmentally friendly, affordable, and public-oriented way.
Besides being a form of national celebration, this program is also part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's (Pemprov) long-term campaign to increase the number of public transportation users.
The special Rp 80 fare applies to Transjakarta services (BRT, Non-BRT, and Transjabodetabek), MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta for the Velodrome-Pegangsaan Dua route.
Meanwhile, public transport services that have already been implemented with a zero rupiah fare, such as Mikrotrans, Transjakarta Cares, and other social services, will continue to operate as usual.
The Transportation Agency is also implementing traffic management during the People's Festival held at Monas from noon until night. This measure is expected to reduce the risk of congestion due to the large number of visitors.
Furthermore, Syafrin stated that they have prepared 17 parking locations around Monas up to the HI Roundabout.
Therefore, people who bring private vehicles can use these facilities, so they do not park their vehicles carelessly.
