KatadataOTO – Changan Indonesia has many vehicle lineup options. It's not just limited to small electric cars like the Lumin EV.
The brand from China also has commercial vehicles. For example, the Changan Hunter, a double cabin pickup or double cabin.
In fact, the Changan Hunter has been registered on the official website of the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI) for some time now.
This was done to study all of its models, so they can determine which products are suitable for the needs of consumers in Indonesia.
“As long as there is a market in Indonesia, we will definitely consider introducing it,” said Setiawan Surya in Chongqing, China some time ago.
Setiawan stated that the pickup truck was first sold in Thailand, because the demand there is quite large.
In fact, the Changan Hunter is not only relied upon for company or fleet needs, but is also used by individuals.
“Whereas in Indonesia, double cabins are mostly for commercial, mining, and plantation use. As long as it's suitable, it will definitely be considered; the market is still being studied,” he continued.
Indeed, the Changan Hunter can be relied upon by mining companies to reduce carbon emissions in their operations.
Considering the four-wheeled vehicle has a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain option. The gasoline engine functions to charge the battery when its power percentage is low.
So users don't need to worry about running out of battery power when driving the Changan Hunter in mining areas.
For your information, the Changan Hunter was registered on the official PDKI website with registration number IDM001261098 in January 2025.
It is stated on the PDKI website that the applicant's name is Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd, located in Chongqing, China.
Upon further investigation, the Changan Hunter is a double cabin pickup truck also sold under the name F70.
There are a number of variants available, from diesel engines to the REEV hybrid model as mentioned before.
In terms of design, the Changan Hunter has a posture similar to its potential domestic rivals like the Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi Triton.
Speaking of the Changan Hunter's dimensions, it has a recorded length of 5,380 mm, just slightly longer than the Toyota Hilux at 5,325 mm or the Mitsubishi Triton at 5,265 mm.
So it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Changan Hunter in Indonesia, and whether it will be brought in soon or not.
