BYD is preparing two new car models, a sedan and an SUV, for the global market in the first quarter of 2026.
KatadataOTO – BYD will once again complete its electric car portfolio in the global market in 2026. Next year, there will be two new products for the global market.
Both models are part of the Ocean series. In Indonesia, several products from this series have already been offered to consumers, such as the Dolphin and Seal.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2026, BYD will introduce the Seal 08 sedan and the Sealion 08 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Reported by Carnewschina, both the BYD Seal 08 and Sealion 08 are based on the Ocean S prototype that debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025.
The appearance of the Seal 08 is believed not to be much different from the Seal currently on the market, including in Indonesia.
The main difference will lie in the technical specifications. The Seal 08 and Sealion 08 will still use the LFP-based Blade Battery.
Then, according to an internal source, the Sealion 08 will have a slightly different size than the Sealion 7.
The body length of the Sealion 08 is said to reach 5,040 mm, while the Sealion 7 is 4,830 mm. Its wheelbase is 2,950 mm.
While the Sealion 7 is a 5-seater SUV, the Sealion 08 has a more spacious cabin and can accommodate up to seven passengers.
The presence of new models in the Ocean series is a response to high consumer demand, especially in its home country.
“Since its launch in November 2021, sales of BYD's Ocean series have surpassed 6 million units,” wrote a Carnewschina report, quoted on Tuesday (12/16).
For your information, in Indonesia, BYD has marketed the Dolphin, Atto 1, Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 7, and the M6 Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV).
Their premium sub-brand is also present through the Denza D9, a luxury pure electric MPV that competes with the Toyota Alphard HEV.
Seeing BYD's aggressiveness in the Indonesian market throughout 2025, this Chinese manufacturer has many models that are likely to be marketed domestically next year.
Not only from BYD, but also products that fill the luxury car segment, namely Denza.
