KatadataOTO – At GIIAS 2025, many manufacturers are selling electric cars at competitive prices. Even on par with Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) four-wheeled vehicles.
The latest is offered by BYD Indonesia at ICE BSD, Tangerang. They have started marketing the Atto 1 with a price tag of around Rp 195 million.
The decision has drawn many responses from various parties. One of them came from Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM).
"Every brand certainly has its own strategy. Their own market," said Tri Mulyono, Marketing & Customer Relation Division Head of ADM at GIIAS 2025.
Tri Mulyono stated that the arrival of new cars is expected to have a positive impact, such as stimulating the four-wheeled vehicle market.
Considering that in the first six months of 2025, the new car market in Indonesia is still far from expectations.
"With the declining Indonesian market conditions, we certainly hope that the presence of many new makers or new models can add excitement to the Indonesian automotive market," he continued.
He revealed that they are still studying the extent of the impact of the presence of LCGC-priced electric cars, including after the BYD Atto 1 is marketed domestically.
"So far, (electric cars) have been playing in the high-end segment. Then with the consumer profile under Rp 200 million, their adoption of electrified vehicles is something we still have to see together," Tri continued.
Furthermore, Tri explained that the presence of the BYD Atto 1 in the country's four-wheeled vehicle market will not necessarily shake up the LCGC car segment immediately.
In addition, LCGC users are usually first-time car buyers. So we have to see how it goes.
"We are still observing what the adoption or acceptance of electrified (vehicles) under Rp 200 million will be like," Tri asserted.
For your information, the BYD Atto is not the only electric car with a price tag under Rp 200 million.
However, there is also the Wuling Air ev which was marketed earlier. This product is sold with a price tag of around Rp 184 million for the Lite Standard Range variant.
Meanwhile, the Wuling Air ev Lite Long Range can be had for around Rp 195 million.
Not to be left out is the Seres E1 which tempts consumers in the country, as it is sold for around Rp 189 million On The Road (OTR) Jakarta.
