Signs of Toyota Veloz Hybrid's Presence in Indonesia Are Getting Stronger

KatadataOTO – PT Toyota Astra Motor is rumored to be bringing in another electrified product soon. Although they are still reluctant to state it explicitly, the model in question is believed to be the Veloz Hybrid.

This is because Toyota mentioned that their next hybrid car product will reach more consumers in the country.

“We will introduce a hybrid (car) that can reach a wider audience. That's all for now,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT TAM, on the sidelines of GIIAS 2025 recently.

He did not deny that there is strong price competition. Not only among Chinese brands but also Japanese ones.

For example, the Honda HR-V was launched with a price tag below the highest variant of the gasoline engine type already on sale.

Then, Daihatsu used GIIAS 2025 to debut the Rocky Hybrid, with a price tag under Rp 300 million.

However, he believes that Toyota's upcoming hybrid car will be in demand by the public due to the various other qualities it offers.

“Other people have their strategies, it's not ethical for me to comment. A little teaser, just wait for the date because we are introducing a hybrid for a wider audience,” he asserted.

Besides that, he believes the Total Customer Experience concept at Toyota is the main capital for competing amidst the heated price competition.

“We must provide Peace of Mind, not only in the purchasing process, but the usage and the process after are also important,” he said.

He believes that Toyota's ecosystem for hybrid cars is becoming more complete, including spare parts and competent technicians to handle hybrid electric vehicles (HEV).

For your information, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid was previously registered in the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 8 of 2024 concerning the Basis for Imposing Motor Vehicle Tax and Heavy Equipment Tax 2024.
