KatadataOTO – Many Chinese manufacturers are introducing new products in the first half of 2025. Some are offering promotions like special prices to attract more buyers.

In July 2025, BYD still leads sales of Chinese cars with retail sales (delivery from dealer to consumer) of 2,827 units, up from 2,172 units in June.

It should be noted that BYD only offers electric cars or Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) including the Seal, Sealion 7, M6, Dolphin, Atto 3, and the Atto 1, which was recently launched at GIIAS 2025.

Other brands that only market BEVs, like Geely, also recorded an increase. The Geely EX5 was delivered to 213 consumers in July, up from June (132 units).

Meanwhile, Chery experienced a significant drop of 20.7 percent, from 2,150 units to 1,705 units.

This is despite the brand having just lowered the selling price of the Chery E5 electric car and the C5 crossover Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

On the other hand, Wuling actually saw an increase in sales figures from 1,101 units to 1,687 units, slowly approaching Chery, which is in second place.

Then in July, Xpeng began delivering units to consumers. According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the figure was 56 units.

Until the end of the year, this lineup of Chinese car brands is expected to continue launching new products to boost sales.

There is still exhibition momentum, such as the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025, which will be held in November.

Usually, there will be various programs such as discounts or price cuts and easy installment plans from dealers to make it easier for consumers to purchase a car.
