KatadataOTOChangan is one of the manufacturers from China and will liven up the competition in the electric car segment in Indonesia. They also have an Intelligent Factory facility.

An ultra-modern production facility that symbolizes the digital transformation of the automotive industry in the Land of the Bamboo Curtain.

Established in 2024, the production complex is situated on a 770,000-square-meter plot of land. It has a capacity of up to 280,000 units per year.

This factory is an initiator of technology application in the automotive industry, a result of the collaboration between Changan Automobile, Huawei Technologies, and China Unicorn.

Their collaboration has given birth to a manufacturing system that is truly automated and fully connected.

“Changan is committed to presenting automotive technology that can improve users' quality of life and support the transition to sustainable mobility,” said Henry Huang, Sea Sales Department Regional Director of Changan Automobile in Chongqing, China, some time ago.

It is mentioned that Changan's factory operates more than 800 smart devices, 1,400 industrial robots, and 650 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).

In addition, there are 200 automated workstations that work in sync through a control system based on AI and the 5G network.

The synergy between these devices makes 100 percent of the core production processes run automatically, from welding and painting to final assembly.

The Changan Deepal S05 and E07 are the flagship models, each featuring an Electric Vehicle (EV) and a Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) drive system.

“We believe that the future of the automotive industry will be determined by innovations that combine intelligence, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility,” Henry continued.

Relying on Three Pillars

It is worth noting that the Changan factory located in Chongqing, China, carries three main values: intelligent, low carbon, and efficient.

First, intelligent: the entire production line has been digitized through 16 artificial intelligence systems capable of reducing operational costs by up to 20 percent.

Meanwhile, low carbon means the factory utilizes 260,000 square meters of solar panels with a capacity of 36 megawatts.

This is claimed to supply 19 percent of the energy needs and significantly reduce carbon emissions.

Finally, efficient: seven core processes, from software testing and battery assembly to die-casting, are fully integrated, increasing work efficiency by up to 20 percent compared to conventional facilities.
