KatadataOTO – It's not just gasoline and hybrid cars that Jaecoo is preparing to offer to consumers in Indonesia.

However, they are also preparing a pure electric car or battery electric vehicle (BEV) to hit the roads in the country, namely the Jaecoo J5 EV.

“Actually, the Jaecoo J5 is already on the global calendar,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia in West Jakarta some time ago.

According to Ilham, they are finalizing preparations to sell Jaecoo electric cars in the country.

Starting from which variants they will bring into the country, to adjust to the needs of the community.

“We are preparing for it (the launch of the Jaecoo J5 EV), because there are several regulations that must be passed,” Ilham continued.

In addition, the brand from China also claims to be conducting market tests for the Jaecoo J5 EV, in order to understand the tastes and desired prices of potential buyers.

“From yesterday until now, we have been conducting research. We want to determine which market segment and region we will target,” Ilham emphasized.

For your information, the Jaecoo J5 EV was exhibited at the IIMS 2025 event. In fact, orders for this electric vehicle (EV) have also been opened.

However, Jaecoo is still keeping the exact launch time of the J5 EV for the Indonesian market under wraps.

“Hopefully (the Jaecoo J5 EV will launch this year), just pray for it,” he concluded.

On the other hand, the Jaecoo J5 EV electric car is rumored to be produced locally in the country. It will be assembled at PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).

“But regarding the amount of Local Component Level (TKDN) that will be in the Jaecoo J5 EV, we cannot disclose it yet, because we are still developing it,” said Yan Ferdiean Tirto, Head of Product for Jaecoo Indonesia on a separate occasion.

For your information, the Jaecoo J5 EV relies on front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 60.9 kWh capacity battery.
